I want to be sensitive because I know people can be anxious or feel like they don't deserve the space BUT everyone can take up space in art and you really just need to start and keep doing it if you want to make any kind of art

Teaching music taught me that there are a lot of people who think artists are born being good at art. Like, literally lesson one "I'm not any good at this!" like they expected to pull the guitar from excalibur and we would ring a bell and sound the trumpets because we discovered a new musician

this is honestly why thumbnailing is such a good habit

Even if you're nailing it with your first idea, it helps you flush out the duds before you get in your groove, and start drawing the final piece

I just wish it was easier getting critique. Almost all attempts are met with “looks great” might have been motivating when I was starting, but 20 years later I feel like that is the least helpful comment -_-
