Gotta floss and brush after every meal and avoid sugary and fizzy drinks. Also need to not brush too hard and ideally brush before showering and spit but don't rinse until you're done showering to give the fluoride time to bind to the enamel. That'll mostly do it, good luck CrimeDad
Hold your brush with just your thumb, index and middle finger. That's all the pressure you need to brush your teeth without over brushing. Also using an electric brush helps avoid having to worry about that. Most have a red light that turns on if you use too much pressure
I’m also going to add; only brush 30 mins *after* a meal, if you can use interdental brushes then try them! I find that they’re; easier to use, clean better and are less abrasive than floss. I also get a hygienist deep clean appointment every 3-4 months. It’s expensive but worth it!
Unforch the reality it's somewhat random. I haven't had any significant work done in 35 years and I basically brush 2-3x daily, flossing only on occasion. My sister has been so much better about day to day and has several root canals. But I have never missed a cleaning, and only drink water. YMMV.
two dentist friends have independently told me ‘if everyone used a sonicare twice a day and rinsed with fluoride mouthwash we’d be out of business.’ i’ve followed that and had one cavity after not going to the dentist for nine years.
Is it possible to get fluoride mouthwash that isn’t mint flavoured though? That’s the only thing stopping me from using mouthwash, everything has fucking mint in it and it’s so concentrated that it *burns* my mouth! It’s horrible! I’m not even allergic to mint they just put too much in it!

Seriously though, it's probably the brushing too hard that's going to get my face chiseled.
