Enjoyed talking to Scott Horton about his new book, Provoked: How Washington Started the New Cold War with Russia and the Catastrophe in Ukraine. You can watch here or listen on my Nonzero Podcast. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLiAW0lysaY

There was a bit of nuance here, which unfortunately will get misconstrued by both sides. But you shouldn't understand "provocation" as a "legitimate justification".
Further, a point which wasn't mentioned: if Rus feels NATO failed to uphold promises, their gripe is with NATO, not Ukraine.
Scott Horton is not nuanced. He keeps calling Maidan a 'coup' with the deliberate intent to smear the Ukrainian people.
He also completely ignores Russia's broken promises and violations. He doesn't argue in good faith and just wants to give MAGA a legitimate reason to abandon support for Ukraine.
This post is provoking me! I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine during the Orange Revolution when Russia poisoned a pro-EU candidate. The Ukrainian people have agency here and don’t want Russia. Eff this rewriting of history.
