I also love The Artemis Fowl series and a Series of unfortunate events too! So many books lol
Heyer wrote takeoffs on that early 19th Century stuff in Mid-Century language; Hit a couple of those, and suddenly Austen's hints and hidden remarks become clear.

Also the Fear Street books from R. L. Stine is something very enjoyable.
