It’s surprising how big the jump in complexity is from 5th gen to 7th gen is. These controllers have components you need a microscope to properly work on.
Well it didn’t power on at all. I did a full tear down and found that with the usb plugged in, when I pressed on a specific cap it would light back up. Reflowed the solder on that cap. Now the light turns on when it’s plugged in or if I press the Xbox button when it’s not, but that’s it. Won’t work.
It doesn't look like anything around the other side of the board. Do you have any way to check continuity on R1 and between ground and both sides of the cap?
The one below R1? Have you tested it with a multimeter? Sounds like you've narrowed down the area (unless it's on the other side of the board) R1 looks like a 0 ohm resistor. I can't make out the labe for the cap.
Gotcha. Everyone should own one. Doesn't have to be a $400 on tho. I'd be more than happy to look at it for you if you don't mind slapping it in the mail.
