Had the measles, mild, before there was a vaccine. Only side effect was a slight neurological disorder known as epilepsy.

As has been pointed out by others, the troubling concern is that if 7 children per day killed by guns has done nothing to motivate change in America, one measles death is incredibly unlikely to sway anyone.

It drives me nuts that thus far most of the coverage about the measles outbreak discusses how easily it is spread and does not tell people what they need to know to be motivated to get vaccinated which is the full range of harm that an infection can cause immediately and in the long run.

Measles is a hideous illness. I was never vaccinated and I had it age 11 in 1977. I was ill for weeks on end.
