I don’t find your comments pedantic at all - they are insightful and knowledgeable and I am very thankful for them. I’d love to see some of your works if you ever are up to posting.
As for the state of contemporary art, well - excesses are trimmed away by time, leaving only those that endure….
I wish I could share your optimism re art — I have spent most of my adult life championing the experimental and things that I thought expanded the definitions and possibilities of art, but now I too often feel that new art is just going through the motions. AI is ripping the guts out of an —
— already exhausted corpse… There are still plenty of small, intimate ‘old fashioned’ things being made that I like, but I feel that the grand sweep towards new intellectual and aesthetic horizons that once inspired me has fizzled out in international art circuits, big money and cynicism.
