The first open beta for Wilds worked better in linux than Windows in my experience, performance too, and if they do use an ugly DRM it apparently won't be an issue to run in linux.

the last time i ran linux i was still in college and we were in the era of "if you run 2 separate environments on top of it you can get most games to run pretty much fine" is that still the situation
no, not really. Proton has really improved Linux gaming to be incredibly viable for....most things. Multiplayer games, really old games, and really new games tend to be the biggest outliers in performance. but for everything else, a couple of checkboxes in steam is all you have to do.
