Feel like I'm missing bits, but from what I'm seeing - Shards are used in the Auger creation process to properly link hte pilots nerves, but all parts of the pilot need links, so if something can't be found on the body it'll be forcefully created by the shard?
Shards are a personal demon that *hates* not being able to show themselves off
So one part of becoming an auger is connecting your nervous system to the one grown inside the metal frame of the mech, the other is making the shard happy, by giving it self expression :3
