I’d still have to give it to Square Enix. In ‘24 they had Rebirth, Fantasian, DQ3HD, Visions of Mana, FFXIV expansion, Life is Strange and several others I’m sure I’m missing. 2023 had FFXVI, Octopath Traveler 2, Star Ocean 2R and others. It’s definitely Square Enix and I agree with the other two.

Even just DQ3HD and FFVIIRe would do it in my book. With all the others on top is just even better. Their hits don’t stop year over year. They’re the Capcom of JRPGs. Consistently putting out consistently good titles year over year.

Atlus, Monolith Soft and Square Enix for me.
I genuinely love the direction the FF series has took and Octopath 1/2 are some of the best traditional JRPGs of the last decade.

Yep, their output is amazing and varied which most seem to look over.
My only gripe really is how they won’t remake Chrono Trigger in HD2D.

It's definitely Square-Enix. While their AAA games are kind of questionable, they release a lot of games that are pretty good. They have Octopath, Mana, SaGa, DQ & those franchises are still active. FF14 as well. About five years ago, I wouldn't have put them there but they have done well recently.

Hard split between NIS with my very obvious bias towards Disgaea style games where the levels just keep going up and Gust because the Atelier series really has broken through recently for a lot of the western audience.

Idk about you, but I also feel like many of us feel that JRPG is starting to describe the style of Rpg and less about the region

I feel like an Atlus JRPG and a CDPROJECT RED WRPG are very different experiences.

I think Square is still up there because if their AA output. AAA wise they are not really my cup of tea atm.
Where atlus and monolith play it safe & cater to a specific type of jrpg players, Square covers all bases with arpgs, card based rpgs, rtwp, tactical rpgs etc…

Square, Atlus, and RGG for me. I love XC1 & XC3, but I was not a big fan of XC2 so I need another great game from them to even that put. Where both turn based LAD games are 10/10 for me.

Definitely Atlus. I would still put square in there too, on the strength of them doing a lot of good projects outside final fantasy.
Falcom personally would be my #3 but they’re still kind of niche.

Square and Falcom both make series I like (Dragon Quest and Ys) as well as those I don't (Final Fantasy and Trails). Gust makes Atelier, which I like, and Blue Reflection, which I'm not sure of. NIS makes so much stuff, both good and bad, it's hard to choose...
