Just as I did the past two years to celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth I'm gonna run down every day a list of some of my favourite actress performances from cinema past & present. Yet again 31 mentions isn't enough to recognise all the brilliant contributions.

Marianne Jean-Baptiste was my most anticipated performance of last year and I felt so good about her work impressing as it did. A gift of a comedic & dramatic turn that will stay with me for the rest of my life. A fully formed performance that speaks to such a feeling.

A Raisin in the Sun is one of the greatest pieces of drama of the 20th century and how lucky we are that the performances by the original stage cast translated so excellently to the screen. Claudia McNeil as Lena Younger is one of those great performances that has lasted.

Blue is the Warmest Colour is a film that I admittedly have only seen once due to how up close & personal it feels. The work by Léa Seydoux & Adèle Exarchopoulos is what made the drama so revelatory that even 12 years later I cannot forget their performances.
