I treasure and know this album back to front & front to back, and it is part of the life soundtrack for so many Black people, esp. women, of a certain age and widely appreciated globally.
oh absolutely. it’s a straight up classic! and honestly, her best work. but in the moment when it came out, and I was working in a record store in LA at the time, it didn’t sell like Baduizm did. so I always felt like it was unjustly ignored. the queen herself felt the same way
Lemon Pipers - Green Tambourine, I grew up thinking this song was "dream" tambourine and first heard it in the credits of the Recess movie where they covered it 💚
