Has anyone ever delved into the mass alcohol withdrawal implicit in the Curse of #Strahd #DnD campaign? Seems like folx drink themselves into a stupor because Barovia is so miserable but then the wine stoppage... alcohol withdrawal is no joke.

People were definitely groggy and irritable. But we weren't even let into Krezk right away so we didn't know the extent. Vallaki was going through it too, but they seemed to have some wine still left. We did get some for them, but not from the winery. Our first attempt didn't go to plan there.
Omgosh, my party went to the vineyard while my son was on a trip. To explain his absence, his character decided to go on a side quest to Krezk in hopes that the Abbot can explain what the Holy Symbol of Ravenkind does. That's taking place in two hours. Curious whether he gets past the gate.
Good luck on that! It sounds like that'd be a ton of fun! Our Abbot was a bit delusional once we got to him. But it wasn't impossible to work with him. There's a few sorry members in particular he doesn't like haha.
The solo session with my son went really well. The burgomeister was rattled that he (and two NPC companions) showed up at the same time the Abbot showed up at her door. It'll be easy to reconnect to the party. The only thing: my son is convinced that the Abbot is Strahd. 🙃
The party was only in Krezk for maybe an hour or two max. My son's cleric didn't accuse the Abbot of anything. If anything, feelings might be slightly positive as they providing an escort to the group heading into Vallaki in search of a wedding dress.

Hopefully he can shed some light on that symbol!
