Short story on why I don’t do work holiday parties: Holiday work parties are fun because Sally Sue & Bob Johnson get drunk, act all buddy buddy & then go back to acting like they don’t know you come Monday morning.

I love some of the people I work with, been there a long time and been through a lot with them. But I treasure my time. I'm not moving up in the company, I'm bad at small talk, I'll see someone drink too much and tell off the boss or dance while hiking up their skirt. Been there, done that.
I’ve learned this lesson the hard way, but folks will throw you under the bus to advance their career. And when you leave, they forget you exist. When you quit, they don’t try to keep you.
Oh yeah no not a fan of those. Ours is fancy and my sister and nephew are coming down to watch O. She was the only person I had to ask and since they’re able I figured we’ll go. But we don’t drink and will likely leave before 9 because this bitch is tired.
I’ve thought about it. And even tho work place management promotes the idea of friends at work, that’s really the last thing they want. I’ve never seen it fail that a group of people that are friends aren’t broken up. It undermines managements power dynamics when you have friends at work.
I'm skipping ours this year because my wife and kid can't really go (they could, but why?) and when I went last year, I knew 3 people out of about 300, and it was just a giant waste of time (and it's an excuse for the C-suite and management to get sloshed on the company dime).

Work AB and home AB are not the same vibe.
I was literally right in front of DR when he was playing. This was in his first country album era.
The two aren't mutually exclusive!
1. Family
2. Friends
3. Acquaintances
4.
5. Co-workers
You 👏🏼 are 👏🏼 replaceable 👏🏼
And what happens at office parties never stays at office parties and will be weaponized against you later.
