It just makes sense. WWII Europe. What a time to fall in love! Still all the fundamental things apply as time goes by. I find it comforting to think of that. Don’t know why i just never really heard the lyrics before.

I had that same realization when this came on shuffle on my phone while driving a few days ago! When Dooley Wilson sings it I'm just like "ah, that's pretty," but when Dylan sings it I pay attention, think about the context, etc. Just something about the voice I guess.

It’s true about what I’ve recently heard said about his unique style of phrasing. He puts emphasis on different words that make you go “ Oh that’s what this song is about.” Genius vocalist whether it’s his lyrics or somewhere else.

I also think of him as an actor, in that he really inhabits the song. He understands the motivations of the characters in it and that informs his phrasing. I came to this conclusion partially based on comments he made about songs being like morality plays, and also his version of Catskill Serenade
