“The agency should use the principle of proportionality to tailor a response to the actions and mood of the crowd, and should avoid increasing tensions by using more gear and equipment than necessary.” Bringing in the national guard made the situation escalate today.

The city is not burning. There have been a handful of cars burned. Arrests should be made but the hysteria over that ICE agents were spit on is ridiculous. Are they really that fragile that they need military and people shooting rubber bullets randomly into the crowd to protect them from spit?

Crowd control is studied. There is a science. We know what to do and what not to do. There has been times when California has called in the guard but the Home Depot protest was a few hundred people and a couple of violent protestors who should be arrested. The police actions were appropriate

Today was more violent because of the National Guard. But the city isn’t burning. It’s manageable. So call in the military. Why are doing the opposite of what the best practices are? That is the question we should be asking?

In fact in every instance. Gaza is worse, the Ukraine/ Russian war is worse, unemployment is up, stock markets are chaotic, he is inviting crowds to riot. There is simply an agenda here that we don’t fully understand. I understand though it’s not in the US best interest.
