I cant see any scientific value in this image...is it hiding behind the red stuff? (/s)
Of course that was sarcasm.... What we need to do is build a little backpack to go grapple its hard points that has all the modern positioning equipment it needs, boost it to a higher orbit, an keep it going!!!
For these images, does NASA use the same color framework translating the wavelengths to human vision bandwidth? Or is it an 'artistic' image. I'm not complaining. I love these space stuff. Just thinking.
This picture of M57 is a composite of real images from 3 observatories taken at different wavelengths. Some visible to the human eye and some not. Colors have been enhanced for better understanding.

Yes, what I was questioning is how that enhancement is done. From the articles, it is done by 'image specialists'. I assume this is an engineering specialty with some degree of "artistic" skills. Hopefully DODGE doesn't destroy this part of NASA.
The raw images are publicly available on the NASA website.
Most of these that you will see are images that have been post-processed by private individuals using specialized software and then submitted back to NASA.
HDR software, AI software, even Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.

There is a story tied to this Ring Nebula.
The entire galaxy was destroyed in a massive galaxy war, giving an view of a giant eye.
This serves as a warning even to Earth that a nuclear war can totally destroy Earth
That is an object that is just straight up cool to look at however you can. It's within easy reach of my 8" celestron. Doesn't look sexy as that image, but still pretty cool.
Thank goodness for science.
Although, with this current regime in charge perhaps we should not be drawing their attention to the Hubble. If it escapes their view and their infinite wisdom 🙄, less chance they will fire everyone in the program.
Along those lines, we could not be more insignificant knowing that the current estimate of the number of galaxy's in the universe is between 200 billion to one trillion. It makes all the senseless and mindless stuff going on on our less than insignificant dust grain of a planet unworthy of thought.
Thank you so much for that, it’s not sad that it looks like a flower exactly. The shot you added is stunning, absolutely stunning. You are clearly a very clever and knowledgeable person. Thanks for entering my world, I appreciate you 💜
I've viewed M57 countless times through my telescopes, at best all you see is a tiny little smoke ring. If you're lucky, you can resolve the star in the center.
I've got Meade 8" SCT that I've a had over 30 years and a much newer, computerized Celestron 4" Maksutov. Neither one gets out too much these days, the skies in Los Angeles are too washed out with stray light and I don't get up to my mountain home very frequently.

"It's full of stars."
It looks like a flower in full bloom. 🤩🤩

Extraordinary.
Haha, do you know the firmament? They say
Small-compared to others, as you say, still-the UNIMAGINABLE distance that a photon would travel in a full year......
Photoshop is a wonderful tool.
It's incredible though 💚🫶

In a normal telescope it looks like a simple smoke or something.

Children in America are homeless and people starve to death.
One of the issues I was having was mapping galaxy coordinates on a top down view of the Milky Way. I think I may have gotten a handle on that. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bgmZK7YxnkseMPS3b6IE26XtU7noaTv5/view?usp=drivesdk
Here’s Hubble’s actual image of the Ring Nebula (beautiful in its own right) as found on their home site, https://esahubble.org

What type of telescope do you have?
Would love to see your work
