Was there in 2021 - the day the conference ended Las Vegas was taken over by the world rodeo championship. The cultural shift from facemask wearing engineers to 'dont tread on my' cowboys was incredible

I've been a few times and was always amused at the lack of awareness of other competing solutions by both Amazon and attendees.

AWS keynotes would make you think that they had invented the only cloud services ever made in every category.

Vegas is fun and super expensive. 3 days is my limit tho.

To some extent, true. However, I found it to be next level oblivious. It seemed to be "AWS is #1, so therefore nothing else exists and no one could have possibly thought of this before".

Azure events have at least some modicum of self-awareness of other clouds or techs.

I've been to a tonne of both and I found them to be similar. Maybe re:invent is different.

Although now everything is AI'ified, it's hard to see anything different at all.

I think the only touristy thing I did when I went to re:Invent in 2016 was do a wander up and down the strip. And yikes it gets chilly when the sun goes down out there.
