Wherever it's been adopted in the US it has resulted in more imprisonments for NON-violent crime and zippo real change for violent ones ... I'm with with Andrew Coyne: it's just an excuse to start using the notwithstanding clause at the federal level.

The 3 strikes rule, filled up prisons... which creates the "we need more prisons" situation. But the 3 strikes does not deter criminals, Studied, researched all by our southern neighbours. PP is leaning hard into FEAR. Your basic conservative trigger.
