Just started the Four Girls of Chautauqua, so I can better understand Turning the Pages of American Girlhood: Changing Girls Series 1865-1930 (or whatever the subtitle is, lol)
I paused the book in chapter 2 to revisit Louisa Alcott, and figured why not keep going with the Chautauqua Girls? 😅
I've got through the first chapter so far, and it's not awful. The four girls all represent a different class/wealth and seem to mainly be interested in the event as a camping lark. So of course I expect a conversion experience, and a merry selling of the high points, like the girl scout series do.
Dying Earth blew me away when i read it. Demon Princes is my fav of his sci fi, but I've loved Planet of Adventure quartet, Emphyrio, Blue Planet and Night Lamp. Big Planet and Five Gold Bands werent grea't, but generally I love his stuff
