yeah that's how I've been finding people -- just find one person I know and go through their following list and then bounce to the next following list

have you tried any of the extensions for finding your twitter friends on bluesky? After you install it, you go on your following page on Twitter and scroll through to find potential matches. I used Sky Follower Bridge and it worked pretty well.
