Does Trump have any idea how democracy works in Germany and, more to the point, who the German parties represent? There was a guy called Col. Richard ‘capslock’ Kemp who always wrote his tweets like that. Also batshit crazy.
He was just as bad last time. I was still in media analysis then, and we suddenly found ourselves asking whether we should "[sic]" the US president, or risk clients thinking that our own SPAG is terrible.
He's had 4 years to dedicate just to working out how to remove any opposition and appoint trusted associates, with knowledge of how the system worked. Arguably, there is a counterfactual where him winning in 2020 (without popular vote or control of congress) was a better outcome for US democracy.
This time is much worse because (a) he beat all comers in the primaries and then won the popular vote and control of Congress (b) he had a plan he knew how to implement.

The US opposition seems more feeble now. The Democrats routed. The bigger names invisible.
