We're haven't really been a democracy at the state level since Gill v. Whitford. If you read American Fascism, we're just reaching the conclusion of a very long arc. I really need to write an article about why our family made the decision to leave.

Part of me wonders if the USA is reverting to type, where some people have more universal rights than others. And where entrenched powerful interests dominate the political environment.
