54 years ago today, the NYPD raided the Stonewall Inn and their violence prompted an equally violent response: almost a week of rioting against anti-gay policing and policies in NYC. This was the start of Pride, as the first Pride Parades nationwide were held on the one year anniversary in 1970. 🌈🏳️‍🌈
