Yes indeed. The Boundary Estate has had massive improvements - 99% reduction of traffic cutting through the estate, speeding, and other ASB such as drug dealing. Resident parking accessible. All courtyards are accessible to council & emergency service vehicles.

It’s astonishing how little notice they’ve paid to the Met Police on this. Emergency service response times need to be assessed by overall times not anecdotally on whether an ambulance tried to drive through a closure they shouldn’t as they hadn’t updated their mapping.

Precisely. A blanket campaign by largely unaffected groups and businesses who have ridden roughshod over residents' opinions. On the Boundary the complaints weren't about the scheme per se but the type of stone & street furniture. Outside groups dived in and stopped the works. Ridiculous.

It was a ‘little’ frustrating given how heritage paving was being laid successfully elsewhere and yet a campaign stopped the works for *checks notes* digging up some old concrete & trying to retain a central island that had actually been removed in the mid-90’s.

I appreciate that’s probably a little glib but it was abundantly clear not everyone had the best interests of preserving the historic nature of the estate, in their minds. And now look at where we are.

It's why I've withdrawn from community activities. It's no longer inclusive, it's a clique. So sad. I've been living here since the late 80s, it was a hard-to-let estate & most residents united to create good for all. Later, John Pierce was a huge support, understood, was honest & helped willingly.

Wasting millions of £’s of public money to plough traffic past schools & homes is ridiculous. They were funded from ring-fenced resources that could only be spent on similar infrastructure - the removal will be funded from money that could be spent on public services.

The Mayor’s arguments about pollution, public transport, emergency vehicle response are not backed by the evidence - not only from the relevant authorities themselves but the results in the neighbouring boroughs with far more extensive schemes than Tower Hamlets.

Tower Hamlets will become an outlier in East London. A place where health outcomes continue to worsen, air pollution stays stubbornly high, & traffic rules the roost despite the low levels of car ownership. Embarrassing and bad for the people of this borough.
