Lucky I guess. We live in a 112 year old house. It’s been renovated and re-renovated, so yeah, we have a dishwasher.

Tip if you’re buying one: the German made Miele dishwashers are expensive but worth it. Whisper quiet and they work. Better than any other one we’ve owned.
