Quite a few voters had become disenchanted with Trudeau and were prepared to vote for PP out of expedience. But Poilievre is enveloped in the stench of the US right wing, and most Canadians have no taste for that, independent of tariffs. Nasty, belligerent bigotry does not appeal to most of us.
