Um, I was left behind, but caught up. Many of my peers did not. My career choice (pilot) did not require any programming skills in the 1970's. On the bright side, aeronautical navigation in the 1970's required one to figure complex math in almost real time in one's own head. sorely lacking today

2 - 80s and early 90s were for boomers, too many fell into the second category & it's on them for not keeping up & not due to being born at a certain time.

I've seen the same thing with GenX, Millenials and even GenZ - too many people don't want to learn anything but the minimum & get left behind.

I did catch up starting the in the mid 80's. I did continue to learn. I learned basic and unix. Again, many of my peers did not. I can not speak for them. However, I disagree with your broad judgement of people lacking drive or opportunity. It is more nuanced and complex.

Yup my Boomer parents know more about co.putwrs than I, the millennial, do because they did it for a job for years and still keep up. Nothing was stopping them except themselves.

I like this convo because is expose a very important social issue. Millions of boomers left behind by the hollowing out of manufacturing jobs and failed to keep up with technology for many reasons. The result? Angry as fuck wanting to blame immigrants and voted to MF tRump. How we got here.
