Space wise, the NYT considers SCOTUS likely giving Trump de facto immunity exactly as important as what the Michigan primary says about Biden’s chances, and not too much more important than “He rescued 1.5 million books in Yiddish. That’s chutzpah!”

The MSM, esp the NYT, is terrified of being labeled (by the MAGA right) anything except strictly neutral. They also want to prepare for a Trump-led authoritarian state where criticism of the Leader is forbidden

While it's intriguing to think there's "design" behind their shitty reporting, I'm leaning toward the idea it's simply fear. The most basic human emotion. I'm doubting they're clever enough to do otherwise.

Often, since fascism was invented. The New York Times fluffed “Herr Hitler” right up until the invasion of Poland. They did so, because they strenuously wanted to avoid offending their rich, rich readers, who thought “the Nazis have some good ideas.”

I think the NYT is pro-Trump (b/c they're pro-right-wing) but they have to sell it to their own staunchly liberal readership, who must continue to believe the NYT would never, so they have to do different things than Fox News.

The Times most prized subscribers are the incredibly wealthy finance and real estate moguls. The Times has the wealthiest zip codes to sell to luxury advertisers. They don’t want their rich readers to feel any discomfort about supporting Trump.
