I really think the Democrats should have run ads with trans people just being like "Hi, I'm trans. I'm a normal person just like you." Instead they let the Republicans get away with the attacks and would rather just throw trans people under the bus entirely.

This has largely been my perspective on so many LGBT issues.

Grew up in the 90s say "gay is dumb" was pretty entrenched. But pretty obvious to me in my early 20s that people aren't just picking SUPER HARD MODE in life because they're edgy or whatever.

I think this was largely the sentiment of the Will Farrell documentary with his trans friend, but of course the conservative influencer just said "They say we're monsters and look at how we are not!" while they then proceed to be monsters that outlaw trans people.

the NYT piece talking to current trans soldiers had a lot of them discussing this! like people saying yeah there were some awkward conversations here and there but people mostly respect you and want you to succeed when you're their colleague
