they have modified traps/lats to connect that extra spine and the circulatory system/nerves have optimized themselves for the most part

i'm still debating how they evolved LOL one idea is multiplying tailbone since vertebrae are cheap but then the ribcage wouldn't be there

the closest irl example of weird spines is the hero shrew but no one knows how it evolved so i don't actually have that much to work with...

humans can also mutate a protusion around the spine but since there's no bone i don't think it's a viable path for evolution

but yeah ignoring the bad old art, it's basically a second body of sorts for them and they use it to aid their balance. super muscular compared to the main body.

ekaitz is weird and his growth went to the human part due to stress, but most lei will grow a stupidly long spine-tail

they do all sorts of weird stuff like neurally connecting the spine-tail to mechs because it's a safe way to link the body to technology while keeping the hands free

pretty happy with the new version! but i did tell myself to quickly wrap it up so i might fine-tune the gloves + boots later

big fan of how he actually looks like he exists in a more modern-ish tech setting now... also the yellow version looks like an actual Upgrade instead of a Sidegrade
