USAID is, again, the BEST PR we have in the rest of the world. We have 80 missions that coordinate programs for education, business development, medical care, etc, AND a rapid response team to provide prompt aid in disaster areas. Most staffers at the missions are local people, many highly educated.

There is a sizable team working to eradicate polio worldwide (as we eradicated smallpox in the 70s), and there are teams that go to outbreaks of severe illnesses like Ebola and Marburg, work to find the source / vector of transmission, prevent further spread, and also to care for those already ill.
