I was drawn to #gbstudio for its user-friendliness and high lvl of abstraction but the more I use it the more I gravitate towards doing gbdk occult C magicks rather than using GBS as intended. Am I weird?

I'm doing a lot of stuff in the engine, but it still feels like GBS. The engine built on top of gbdk gives you a lot of tools in C as well, and you can integrate it to the IDE very well.
This all works great, but the more I distance myself from visual editing, the more it feels "removed" from what GBS was built for, if it makes sense? The same thing happened to me w/ RPG Maker, I rewrote half the JS engine until I decided maybe it's not the right tool for what I'm trying to do. 🤔
The reality is that once you learn how to make tools, the line between intent thins out, and what really matters is what accelerates and simplifies your effort the most.

I think about ejecting the engine and tinkering for fun, but it feels like it would be counterproductive for me atm. One day, though
