I’m one of the few Dems in NYC who even RUNS a general election campaign, and the only one who ran a robust field op. We ran ahead of top of the ticket.
Excellence matters. A lot of folks w/ poor campaign fundamentals are now blaming “wokism” but haven’t held a town hall or knocked a door all cycle

Out here in Missouri we lost by 5% but even against huge out-of-state-funded headwinds we made certain we were out knocking every weekend.
When Beto ran against Cruz he visited all 254 counties, many more than once. Did town halls here.
The truth is, there are likely a 1000 reasons we lost, and we will learn absolutely zero lessons from said losses
It's 100% in their best interest to spread Pro-Conservative perspectives, and use their reach to encourage apathy amongst the working class.

Might be spicy but yeah. Firmly believe libs are still high off of Cold War victory and don't understand that things actually need to evolve.
Kitchen table economics are the name of the game. People often don't care about social issues until it's a distraction from that.
It's less that people preferred Trump, but more of that they didn't want to/weren't able to vote for some reason or another.
New York HATES Donald Trump. Now we know the election was rigged!
How many doors did your team knock this cycle? This should be asked more.
Also a LOT of consultants get rich off Dem campaigns win/lose so there’s a huge financial incentive to blame others so they stay on payroll

It shouldn't be the end all be all tho.
But you have to know when + where it is effective and how to deploy it well. It’s not a silver bullet. A good campaign operator should know when and where it works + when to add other means.
Field isn’t everything but it is a TOOL. It can’t be used well if people don’t know how and when
I have found ineffective door knocking to be a quick way to lose volunteers over time, so guidance on why to reduce that is welcome.
In the final days, I was surprised at the number of "casual" Democrats I ran into that intended on voting, but wanted to wait until election day, but had no idea where their precinct was, etc. and needed the info.
It definitely matters.
If a voter knows someone on the ballot, that’s a good motivation to vote, according to Run For Something.
Meanwhile Elmo was kidnapping people to fake a door knocking campaign.
The only way to do this is to knock on every door in the riding, and do it more than once. It’s targeted and manpower heavy, but it’s the only way to break through.
It's like bands who don't think passing out flyers at shows is necessary, when it has always worked and STILL works.
At similar doses, human contact is still more effective
The Dems need to create social civic meetups (with free food) at least quarterly
Voter turnout lower than 2020.
Depressing.
As a CEO I’m always interested in how the management of a campaign is a nice interview and evaluation of a candidate’s leadership abilities.
I have taken to heart one of George Carlin's bits about "everyone thinks they are smarter than average", only in this case, we go with civics-educated. 1/2
I wish that after he denigrated every marginalized group that exists, hispanics, women, blacks, veterans, doctors, nurses, teachers, librarians, LGBTQ, etc.. + anyone with half a brain cat or dog incl. even some republicans knew better than to vote for him..
Now factor/1
THEN all his projecting for fake & rigged elections & obsession w/crowd size & the popular vote..
I WISH you’d STOP ✋🏼 believing he won.
He’s a #cheat, a PROJECTING CON.
Popular vote was the telltell

But in a sea of hot takes, we should be prioritizing listening to leaders who had a solid ship. We still may have disagreements, but at least we know their operation was solid & come from that place
But macro level headwinds -- info ecosystem is so broken. Found this interesting:

Our economy score should encompass-
LIVING WAGE job creation
Employees without healthcare
Healthcare / drug costs
Disease / obesity
Food /energy costs
Childcare costs
Small business growth
Wealth gap measurements
Start here!
Trump avoided being defined by issues like abortion, Project 2025, and MAGA extremism by simply denying.
Kamala did not. Failing to grasp how people fear what ‘wokeism’ is painted to be is a mistake.
Audio of patrick bryne talking about ‘disabling’ Dems “go switch” to suppress their vote total. Audit/recount.
Keep fighting the good fight, though. You are appreciated.
Imagine if she had the complete year.
I don't think there's any blame at all on that front.
A dem was running against Lalota here in L.I., but I never saw so much as a postcard. Not that it would have helped him. LI is pretty red now.
People trust you to be on our side, and to change this country for the better.
#AOC2028
doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results isn't working and we want to win.
This is an especially important issue as Democratic politicians and media shit-stirrers begin questioning our party's commitment to trans-rights.
Thanks for continuing to be a strong, rational voice.
This seems like great ideas to ensure that candidates are putting in the work.
- it wasn't being 'woke' that lost the election
- what goes round comes around
- still fine margins, Reagan won all the states bar Minnesota in 1984
I thought you asking people who voted for you + Orange why they did it was really revealing.
It's so critical to be able to speak to people where they are and then walk them through the issues they are having.
Like sure, scolding them won't win votes.
But also, scold them.
Scold them for not reading enough, not standing up for their neighbors, choosing groceries over human rights.
Scold them for not doing their jobs as citizens to protect this country.
> Harris garnered more Republican endorsements than Trump did Dems
> Harris had endorsements from Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Beyonce, and ICP ffs
> Harris drew larger crowd sizes
Trump half-assed his campaign and insulted major voting blocs.
Somethin' ain't right.
People voted for Trump instead; whatever their reasoning it wasn't because he has better messaging or track record on housing!
I'm sure there were errors here and there but on the whole I feel like this was a brilliant campaign and we were just fucking hosed.
I hope so! 🙏
A Congressional Hearing regarding Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UFOs) happened today in Washington, and I was hoping AOC would be there as she was present at the last one in 2023.

But if a campaign wasn't run well, then those issues need to be resolved before next time... Hopefully we get a next time.
Dont let them pit us against one another, but unify under the ....
"Help the common folk". All of them no matter their ideologies and beliefs.
A unified and inclusive message of
"Eat the rich"
Tough question, I know
Let's not reward them with our attention. Our time is better spent organizing.
I also don't get how you can do a dumpster fire of a job running a campaign and then get hired on for an even bigger campaign next time around.
And how well did the Musk-funded ground game for Trump perform?
It feels like Pundit-strong news media means less hard core investigation.
The needs and concerns of 10s of millions of voters were not, are not, listened to.
Again.
Lance Wallnau was a big part of Jan 6 crowd... now they were recruited as poll workers to try and suppress votes

Maybe we should have done more persuasion? *shrug* I'm open to reasonable suggestion.
More democrats should listen to her.
But, that probably will never happen.
Sadly, Greed is one thing we have an abundance of.
That's the problem with having older leaders. They are living in a new world with old souls and do not understand the new way to message
Knocking on doors is antiquated in this new world of podcasting and variable social media forms used to get out the vote. You didn't see Trump volunteers knocking on doors did ya? Me either. - BDT
I think the analytics used were wrong. The outreach focused on just doing it without a strategy mostly re hitting supporters.... they came to my door 4 times even though I was on campaign.
I’m so sick of this rampant transphobia from the “left” thank you Morning Joe & Mika. To sit and blame trans people for our loss 🤬 is cruel. So much blame.
Treating the threat to democracy like just-another-slogan shows they don't feel the impact of their games.
It’s time for you, Bernie, and others to grow a new anti-corporate PAC, anti-donor class, progressive populist party providing like-minded Dems and even Republicans who are looking to defect and reclaim working-class advocacy. Give it a clever name, like the "American Populist Party.”
Giving you credit
Never slack off
I also only hear bad news, these days, about how the party is run in my state (FL).
Is there an equivalent to the folks who rate charities, when it comes to campaigns?
They can’t openly run against black people or LGB so they run against Trans folk and ‘woke’ is code.
But I'm not an American so my vote doesn't count
Satisfies the richer donors I guess
State of Jefferson group. 🤮
Also he is one of the stupidest Congressman.
"I'm a capitalist"
"I have a Glock, and I’ve had it for quite some time"
"I will always stand up for Israel's right to defend itself and I will always ensure Israel has the ability to defend itself"
-Kamala Harris 2024
That's progressive? I beg to differ.
They should just go be a republican already.
They can complain all they want, but how can you be a leader in government if you can’t lead and manage a campaign!
Just sayin’…

I get the feeling though that you got into politics to serve. I don't think that's the case with everyone of your colleagues.
If not POTUS, at least VP.
It’s underrated in effectiveness.
interesting
I think public shows of support would help a lot
OTOH the ineffective, condescending, and non-persuasive activism style also known as "wokeism", "virtue signaling", the one that gave us "Anne Frank's white privilege", "You don't need to transition", and "A woman is anyone who identifies as such", needs to go.
During the campaign, what I saw was that Trump's campaign dredged up one comment she made supporting trans rights 4 years ago and banged the drum on it. Harris would give a
Republicans are also seemingly repeating a lot of the same tactics against trans
I was paying attention to exit polling as reported by two networks, and not once did I see that fear of trans people (or "wokeism" for that matter) was high on anybody's list of why they voted as they did.
