Both things. It’s an incredibly fun device to type on. The keys are tactile and the clicky-clack is so satisfying. And honestly yeah; not being able to see my work (other than like 11 lines) kinda of shuts off my critical/editorial brain and forces/allows me to just write.

Legit, legit. I use a Bluetooth keyboard with a satisfying clicky-clack and I would not trade it. I hear so many people talk about how much more productive they are, which is definitely intriguing, though I also wonder what the revision process looks like—same as before? More to clean up? Idk!

For me it isn’t too bad re: editing. I’m a sloppy typist but I use Scrivenor for my editing and formatting and it’s not too hard to clean up later. For me, my big struggle is getting words on paper to edit.

Love that. People need to understand the importance of the clicky-clack. It’s essential.

They’re not cheap (less expensive than a laptop though) but they are perfect for their designed and discrete purpose. Messy first drafting might be the ticket for me.

It’s been a real boon for me. It’s so satisfying to write on. After dinner just now, I sat down and was able to write about 450 words in a little under 30 mins. It’s wild how much much productive it makes me.

The only bad thing I’d say about the Smart Typewriter is that you have to pay extra for a carrying case, but I only use it at home. It’s sturdy but light, and it has a handle, so it’s easy to carry if need be. But a case would be nice. In terms of function though it’s exceptional.

Wow. That's really impressive! I think it's going to be a game-changer. I am working on my 8th novel, and I don't want to be distracted by the INTERNET anymore. Also, that E Ink screen must be SO nice on the eyes, yes? How long have you been writing on yours?

The e-ink screen is amazing. It’s very easy in the eyes and you can turn the backlight on or off with a hot key. Novel number 8! That’s impressive! I’m working on novel number 1.
