Someone yelled at me for not Watchposting on Bluesky so here’s a wrist roll of a Nivada Grenchen Super Antarctic I sniped on eBay at 1am Christmas Eve while all other bidders were contemplating the Lord.

I’d love to upgrade from “years old Apple Watch with band I grabbed on the clearance aisle” but proper watch game feels completely impenetrable without knowing what I like.
Have you considered our Lord and Savior the Casio W800-H? It tells the time! And... It has other features! But mostly it's 30 dollars and will survive WWIII quite comfortably.
Yknow what’s a nice step is join some of the watch reddits, and just flip around for a while, and you’ll see enough things that you’ll start to get an idea of what you like.
I'm a bit of the way down the rabbit hole (pictured, a large pile of wasted money that I think is pretty), if you have any questions feel free to ask. You can easily get started with a few cheap, decent watches. Dropping a ton of money isn't required
I love that watch, I wore it when I got married. It's a part of the "cocktail time" series, where each one is inspired by a cocktail. Not "cheap" but by no means expensive in watch terms. For example, this one is the "Mojito" inspired watch.
That Mojito one also looks p dope, so I went to look at more and got sidetracked by the Nausica Ghibli Seiko that’s fifteen hundred bones. GOOD LORD. I think I definitely gotta try some stuff on before I get anything. I don’t think there’s anything sub $300 that’s really spoke to me yet.
Josh's suggestion of Orient is a good one. The other option is just looking for used pieces. You can get a $500 watch for like $200 a lot of the time if you don't mind light use.
(Also, "Expensive Seikos" is a rabbit hole, I've always wanted this one:)
Imo in person viewing is best. Next time youre in a department store take a gander through the watch displays. If youre looking online youll most likely be pushed to certain brands which feels limiting imo
Nice watch! I've had my eye on a similar vintage Rolex Explorer-style watch, by the Vague watch co. It's closer to the original case size (34mm) because of my small wrists
Need to start expanding my collection by browsing at thrift stores. Right now I've just got a Star Wars empire themed citizen watch. It's a nice watch, but I do want some more variety, especially for more formal stuff.
My watch collection as of now. Kinda tacky, but I want one of those melty Dalí watches & a vintage art decco Tissot like this. Been scouting Ebay/Marketplace for one for a good while now.
Generally a bulova boy, but really love my Briston probably what I wear most now.

My two negatives are: There are no micro-adjustments on the bracelet and the mechanism for resizing the bracelet (pin and sleeve) is terrible.
But in general, I love it.
