Someone asked me how to protect a home setup from ddos

My two ideas were cloudflare tunnels or IP tables block for non-bluesky IP addresses

Does anyone know if the crawlers have stable IPs?

talking with @jacob.gold a year ago (almost exactly to the day), we were talking about IP ranges, ASNs, and BGP. So I know bsky pbc has the ranges, but idk if they are being used for the crawlers.

Hey!

That's true, and the Relay service (which does the crawling) does use those IP blocks.

But restricting access to your PDS to Bluesky Social, PBC is like restricting crawling of your web site to Google.

It's not great for the health of the network.

Rate limit is the preferred solution.

you should be able to login to the account with the DID (if it signed you out) then just re-update the handle to the one you were using and it should be done --IF it happened because Bluesky went down or something
