I found the same with mastodon because of how the instances interact and cache. There’s alternative servers but I never tried them

I’m going to experiment with uploading a bunch of videos today and I’ll see how much space it takes

For what it’s worth, you could do this on the free tier of AWS - and it wouldn’t cost you a dime for 12 months. If you want to continue the journey after that, have your dns record sit in the initial account and open another acct per year w/ an email like [email protected]. Free forever.
