Maddow did a nice job of this on Friday, she laid out a bunch of things Trump/Musk are doing that don’t benefit the US at all, but “it’s sure good for someone” — as Putin’s photo kept appearing on screen. I sure wish mainstream outlets would pick up on this, but it seems most of them are in on it.

What does this mean? I have much speculation, but I don't know for sure. Of course I don't. What I do know is all of the above is true. I also know that, in 2018, it was treated as absolutely scandalous that Donald Trump denied our own intelligence reports re: Russian interference.

1. U.S. intel shows Russian interference in multiple U.S. elections, incl. 2024
2. Intel shows the goal is to bring down the West and the U.S., beginning w/ breaking off support for Ukraine
3. Trump & Vance have seen this intel

On a basic level, I would ask journalists to ask the same questions they did in 2017 and 2018. We have all of this intelligence telling us what Russia's plan is. Now the Trump admin seems to be enacting Russia's plan in the U.S., as well as promoting it on EU soil. Do they not believe our own intel?

I think to some extent it's baked in. Everyone assumed he was a Russian asset all along, so none of this is surprising to those who were paying attention. And most media outlets have bent the knee. They don't want to poke the bear.
