It represents the spiritual split between bad faith and good faith. A common flaw of religion that creates cults on its periphery. As fheres always a faction more impressed with how they can twist your magic rather than be concerned for life.
I dont see how that lacks nuance.
This is true, but its really avoiding what the jedi and sith are. If we look at the movies, the jedi or sith aren't christian coded at all, other than having a messiah. The religion is about harmony and balance, while Christianity is about authority and righteousness.
I didnt say it was christian coded. I mean its in there with the knights motif but jedi represent good and bad faith spirituality. Thus the church irl merely correlates to another example. And considering who george is and what he grew up around its prolly the source of that critique. Atleast
I feel like there are 2 seperate stories being told in star wars, one about anakin, and godhood. The other is about an empire that cares more for spectacle than humanity.
Which is really where you are correct. I love the way you phrased it, i just dont get to talk about this anymore because i work.

The council itself tries...
The religion is just a distracting backdrop that prevents the jedi from acting, and allows the sith to have full political control
Its nuanced.
