I love clip studio ex! Being able to transfer my work from my tablet phone to my PC is soooooo useful. Despite the costs, though perpetual licenses usually don't include anything past 4.0 such as 4.0.1 and etc!

I use it mostly for animation, and the latest version has audio scrubbing and just better audio import options, so it was an easy decision for me.

I believe you are still able to keep and upgrade to the newest version.

In all honesty most of the newer features you'll have access to are great! You may not use all of the bells and whistles but you aren't really losing much by upgrading.
