its not that it was inherently BAD, it just felt like being forced to sit thru 5 mediocre movies if I wanted to watch something I like
but I really like how Rise handled things personally
I should give Rise another go... dust off the ol Switch cartridge
like the fun little decorations you could win from the shop lottery
and knuckles
watch them add it in post,,, i'm actually p. curious about what they're doing re: gathering hub this go around
From what I'm gathering it feels more like a pacing issue? Which I understand, I think I started really getting into the story itself about midway through (when they started loosening the Tutorial Grip)
Regardless, I think it's moreso the fact the MH team has steadily been updating and tweaking the gameplay for years, making it more accessible for newcomers. From what I hear WIlds ain't perfect but it continues that tradition.

Baffling to think the walk n talk is what sold the game opposed to other reasons like simultaneous PC launch, prior goodwill, etc though.
A lot of old-school players just want to get in and hunt monsters, story be damned.
I think it's nice they tried something different, and it was fine. It also went into some lore that has been speculated for quite awhile.
I do wonder if they'll get to expand on that lore with updates/DLC, the worldbuilding for this one has been so interesting even just visually
The divide is not totally clear, and I'm still not sure why some people absolutely loathed it.
As a veteran player, low rank always feels like "a waste" armor wise because ya just gonna-
Also, I would say, imo, Wilds low rank is VERY easy. I beat it all in og armor. When I tried to do that in World, I got wrecked at Anjanath. That forced me to slow down and build low rank goods, helping invest me in being in low rank.
Then come high rank have Alma simply say her secret recipe doesn't seem to be working on the monsters anymore.
Its veteran hunters getting good since world, with a combination of playing the easy ranks that makes it feel too swift.
That's something that makes all the fights easier as now people are used to playing the game since World.
And yeah p. much! I think it's okay for the story to just be okay! it doesn't have to be a mindblowing masterpiece as long as it Works for what it is LOL
But over time I'm like alright you're tolerable little guy.
Also straight up he looks like my little cousin.
