Who helped her through the 9 or so days she was in inpatient hospice.
Her wishes are for direct cremation, no services. Donations in her name can be made to Pet’s Alive where she adopted her last 2 Bull dogs. @kelliblue.bsky.social has adopted her dog and 2 cats.

Barbara Heller neè Coombs a/k/a Dee Ziths first marriage was to Frankie Ziths, BPP, NCDPP and was responsible for saving his photo archive as well as his papers from the BPP, NCDPP, and BLA which she donated to UMass Amherst SCUA in 2021 http://scua.library.umass.edu/ziths-frankie/

Dee was friends with Assata Shakur in the 60-90s and due to having been educated in S America while her father was on diplomatic assignment to Peru helped Assata pick out the name Tùpac Amaru for her child (Kathleen Cleaver told Assata at Tùpac’s funeral never to tell the story of his naming again

She also traveled to Cuba a few times to meet with Afeni in the 80s and 90s. She always supported social justice associations, and went back to school for her masters after Frank died in 1990, and worked as a counselor for disabled students at Hunter College and afterwards as a program director -

Securing housing for street homeless mentally ill/chemically dependent people. She spent her last years enjoying retirement still advocating for disabled people and LGBTQ+ causes. She will be greatly missed by the many who had the pleasure of knowing her, and the world is worse off without her in it
