Drove in Europe for 3 weeks a couple months ago. 5 different central European countries. Driving was so chill. People used their signal, they let you in, they obeyed traffic signs. It was chill enough that most intersections didn't even have stop signs (or were roundabouts). It was amazing.

The one exception was taxi drivers. They definitely had a US vibe to them.

Especially as half of US streets are miles and miles of empty highways.

In a country like, say, the Netherlands, you hardly ever drive a kilometer without encountering other cars. They should correct for THAT, then it would look a lot worse...

On a public health level, population data seems to give a clearer picture than vehicle miles travelled. These graphs are very high level. I would love to see the data stratified or separated into rural versus urban
