I heard Julia Sanches talk about her writing practices that made me find her translations. This book was funny, tragic, and flowed so nicely when it had so many different voices. I was up all night reading it.
Griso: the One and Only, by Roger Mello / Daniel Hahn
Stranger to the Moon, by Evelio Rosero / Anne McLean + Victor Meadowcroft
Harlequin Butterfly, by Toh EnJoe / David Boyd
The Living and the Rest, by José Eduardo Agualusa / Daniel Hahn
I read a fan translation of Evil as Humans by Nian Zhong. Also a Japanese novel, The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa (translation by philip gabriel) told from the pov of the cat.
Haven't read much (any?) poetry in translation this year, but lots of fiction. Vol 3 of Mo Xiang Tong Xiu's Heaven Official's Blessing has one of the saddest/best depictions of watching an entire civilization collapse due to climate change I've ever read.
Most unethical editing practices for translation I have ever encountered in my life (and honestly treated me worse than the British Museum, which is saying something)
I've been finding fan translations of other works on various platforms -- I'll keep seeking them out! I am also regularly swayed by the intro Chinese lessons my uni offers staff every term...
(Otherwise, the only languages I know beyond English are Latin and ancient Greek, and I'm doubting much wuxia/xianxia has been translated into those languages...)
I find it interesting how many stories now embrace doom and gloom over climate change. But there are real-world benefits to sensible fossil fuel use. It's time we focus on practical energy solutions instead of just narratives.

Is there another publisher you could recommend?
but i'd recommend fan translations / c-drama / reading it in another language
the manhua translation i did was completely rewritten by someone who didn't speak any Mandarin, i DO NOT TRUST THEM
