Mario Kart roster discussion really feels like this these days and it's actually starting to get exhausting.

It's because of how Mario, the biggest gaming franchise in the world, is now 40 years old, & it's got an absolutely huge treasure trove of legacy content at its feet, with all these neglected subseries, & we would like to see a roster that feels like a culmination of all this growth and expansion.

That's not to say I personally don't like some of the current choices, I do, I just feel like the lineup could have benefitted that much more by having a mix of both random little guys, and actual, distinguishable characters from things like Donkey Kong, WarioWare, and the RPGs.

I would enjoy a roster like that but it doesn’t really seem to me like that’s what Nintendo intends with the rosters especially now with World. The spinoffs sort of count as their own brands in a way while MK is just as prominent as the core series so they probably just want to keep brand cohesion

Granted they still could be making better choices even from that perspective. There are a lot of Odyssey characters and enemies which don’t seem to be in World even though they’d be more interesting. Broodals + basically any NPC from one of the towns would be really fun
