This can affect drug delivery rate & result in patients receiving a higher dose due to additional drug leaking out from the reservoir

Some people/hospitals may feel tempted to cover part of the patch with adhesive bandage or remove half of the backing & cover the remainder with occlusive dressing. This action should also be discouraged as it can lead to unpredictable drug delivery

As a general rule:

Folding, cutting, or covering one portion of the patch to achieve lower doses is not indicated
