That’s quasi correct. The employer sponsors the H-1B visa, so it’s not held by the employee. If employment ends, that person needs to find another employer asap to sponsor the visa. Only then is the visa transferable to cover that person, allowing him to stay for the time remaining. Otherwise gone.
