I've canceled my WAPO and Amazon subscriptions (of course there's no mid-year refund.
And years ago, I always wanted a Tesla, but couldn't afford one. Now I can, and will never own one. Never.
If you zoom out, you see Trump sitting in Elon's lap who is sitting in Puttin's lap. The evil end point is always Putin. Please, someone put him out of his misery. He will never be happy or satisfied...
The difference between a newspaper owned as a primary business by someone who cares about the free press and a newspaper owned as a vanity venture by someone who cares more about the stock shares of their other primary business.
Ass-kissing billionaires, bending the knee. It's a sad day in history when money is EVERYTHING you need to run a country.
Whatever happened to truth, justice, integrity, honour, ability and most of all, putting the interest of the people first.
This President-elect has none of that.
Hey, they were good in their day, but even fucking Woodward became a money chasing turd who kept vital information about Trump in his pocket in order to maximize his profit by timing the release.
Greed is absolutely killing America and the world.
I wonder... male egos exist.. millennials of patriarchy steeped male superiority messaging are ingrained, sometime I think these destructive males in our society on some
level are fighting the reality of their
"not John Wayne"identity ..and still absorbing the lessons of equality
Here's the problem with this: The media aided and abetted the White House in covering up Biden's condition so badly that calling them lapdogs now is hypocritical. Speaking "Truth to Power" only works if you're willing to do it when people you like are also in power
“He could be spending his wealth helping this country, but instead, he spends his time frolicking on superyachts, flying around in $100 million jets, shooting up rockets into the sky, and cuddling up with Donald Trump.”
Interesting take on the evolution of media and power dynamics! It really makes you reflect on how relationships between the press and leadership have shifted over the decades.
we now understand that Bob Woodward had to make "Deep Throat" up because Dick Cheney was handling him, to lead Bernstein towards Nixon and away from the JFK assassins.
The saddest thing about this is nobody has given a fuck what wapo had to say about anything for years, but somehow a cartoon is responsible for everything? Seems easy
https://a.co/d/7kKuuZr Seeing as this is the anniversary of the Trump Insurrection, I’m posting my book, Two Thousand Twenty-Eight, a reframing of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, where Donald Trump is Big Brother.
It's scary af that American democracy & the formerly free press (MSM) has devolved to this point of corruption.
Many crucial levers contributed to the tipping point we're facing—but none as debilitating as the #BillionaireFascists, aka #RulingClassCriminals, who play games with people's lives.
My New Year’s resolution is to wean myself from Amazon. It’s so convenient but my conscience feels dishonest. I don’t feel good about myself every time I order online. I just need to take the time to methodically move to Costco and Target.
I order my waters coffee tea paper so I don’t need to lug it all around in the grocery store. I need to create a routine to go to Costco and buy those items in bulk and do the same for items from target. That’s my goal.
Fuck WaPo and Bezos' predatory capitalism. Subscribe to and support The Guardian for truly independent journalism (and no billionaire owners). @theguardian.com
Sad but true..all the good themes used up, turned into theme parks..you USED to be able to trust the bravery & strict adherence to honesty/integrity of proud news org like the Post..now? Literally for sale to the highest bidder (I guess Elloi Muskrat was buying continents & cruise missiles that day)
Not really he should have shown Katherine Graham, she was the owner who facilitated that journalism - and thus the relevant person in contrast to Bezos
In what way would Ms Graham be relevant in a 2025 cartoon?Yes, as WAPO publisher, she enabled/supported Bernstein & Woodward in their Watergate investigation - but was not the star of the All The President's Men film.
And she died before Trump or Bezos became public figures.
I thought it was going crazy not understanding how Mrs. Graham could have any relevance so thank you Destiny Jones for relieving me of the suspicion I may be having a stroke.

Some need to do a Russian nesting doll with Trump at the outside, then Musk, then Musk's "investors" in Twitter, the Russian Oligarch dads of said investors and finally Putin.
What a sad and frightening time we live in. I'm ashamed of my generation. Born in the 60s and thought we would make the world better and get yet we are.
Oh yes, in the Sci-Fi of our day, we thought in the future we'd see chronic disease eliminated, starvation and Injustice and racism abolished, and worldwide peace. Instead, we got Facebook and TikTok.
When Trump sues ABC settles ( $15 million) and Wash Post decides not to endorse a presidential candidate. This is despicable. Where are decision makers like Katherine Graham owner of the Wash Post who defied Nixon and published the Pentagon papers
Frost/Nixon historical drama great film. Agony of stubbornness, blame game & refusal to accept responsibility. Incineration from great heights to personal hell.
I don’t really think that Bezos is Trumps man. He kissed the ring but I think that was just to keep out of Trumps sights. I do think that Trump and Musk are joined at the hip.
You can't hurt the wallets of megalomaniacs like Bezos or Musk, but that's not the point. The more their presence is seen as the buisness kiss of death, their fragile ego will collapse under its own gravity
In 1999, 60 minutes/ Mike Wallace did a piece on Jeff Bezos He was kind of nerdy and drove a Honda Accord and was a bit endearing. That was his best moment. He's turned into a self-indulgent, cliché aging male, kissing the ring oligarch. What a disappointment. His ex-wife's a better man than he is
Well, that's depressing ha. We were stupidly thinking Post-style journalism and forcing the corrupt Nixon to resign was tremendous for democracy. The "powers that be" instead learn from their errors, like raptors, and have endeavored to make this stuff doesn't happen again. Now they OWN the media.

He probably wanted to do that from the day he bought the paper, but was too gutless to get it done during the Woke days of the 2020-2024.
Ha! MAGA WINS!
Bezos and the Washington Post have predominantly been left wing and endorsed Dems.
As soon as anyone voices their actual opinion or goes neutral, they’re ostracised by the left.
You’re your own worst enemy.
True. A comedy cartoon series has made jokes about its owner, but in the context of a comedy cartoon series that makes jokes about many famous people.
In this context, a serious media outlet refused to publish a political cartoon portraying the owner.
The word I used was “mock”, which is to tease or laugh at in a scornful or contemptuous way.
“Scornful and contemptuous” being the difference between your example and the requested one.
Great example, but I think the context being 100% comedic vs politically biased after efforts to not be makes a difference.
9 years ago I subscribed the online version because of Woodstein. I recently cancelled it because of Bezos. Sad. Now with NYT.
Does Elon know?
