There’s a certain brutal irony in leaving the EU and hoping to be treated better than the EU only to find out that no one can be bothered to make the distinction.

In theory and if you are large enough - non alignment should be a benefit. But the uk is too small, too well integrated trade wise and the geopolitics and proximity to the eu make this idea inapplicable- I suspect. It needs further thought..
There’s a certain irony too in how US voters have elevated a serial liar, sex abuser, all round huckster & convicted felon into the highest offices in the nation & are now aghast at the moronic chaos & destruction of the federal state they didn’t really expect
I kind of look forward to the day that we have to adopt the Euro purely because of Brexit.
The day we actually surrendered a key bit of sovereignty.
I will enjoy the irony.
There’s a moment of national realisation in the UK’s future that it was an enormous mistake, and I don’t think it is far away. The geopolitical shifts are too tectonic to miss.
I truly, deeply wish I could agree with you, but no party is going to move the UK closer to the EU while Reform is surging in the polls. Something really catastrophically dramatic needs to happen to allow that policy shift (and, yes, that may happen in the next four years, and it won't be pretty)
Lib Dem’s policy is to take essential steps on the road to EU membership, which remains their longer-term objective. SNP policy for Scotland to be a full independent member of the EU. Not the same.

US: "I hate the EU and want to keep it as far away as possible."
US: Bow down before us and beg for mercy, while rejecting all of your allies, and the values you hold dear. These are our terms.
And then of course there’s Trump too…
